Since breaking this story this past week, Political Ears has come under attack from the US Department of Energy and local media in the El Paso area for the story. Employing common "straw man" arguments they say that there is no evacuation order in place and then spend paragraphs letting people know that. Well... that's not the issue. As always, this has been about the potential for an evacuation due to the continuing fires and radiation leaks in the Carlsbad, New Mexico area which if continued would essentially create a "dirty bomb" affecting over 14 million residents in Eastern New Mexico, West Texas, and Northern Mexico.
KVIA, the ABC affiliate in El Paso did an excellent job of quoting WIPP officials, but didn't do any actual journalism in their article here. By any standards, this is not journalism, it is a copy and paste job. One response from a viewer sums up our view rather well:
"To say that a potential radioactive leak is nothing to worry about, is irresponsible journalism, and just plain ridiculous. Your 4:30 program had their media man say that the information regarding the radiation leak at Carlsbad is simply not true; and is basically sensationalism. This is far from the truth. There was a radiation leak. What is not clear is whether there were actually 2 separate incidents. One in the Carlsbad, and one in Albuquerque WIPP facilities. That your news journalists are utilizing the spokesman from the facilities in question, as the voice of truth, is equally irresponsible. Has an outside source checked the area for radioactive fallout? What kind of radiation was leaked? Do you know? Does anyone? There was a leak......that is a fact. After that, it's all been junk. Pure junk. Let's get to the bottom of this. We already have enough cancer victims, without allowing our loved ones to be exposed to what could be a preventable disease. Turn your backs on this; and you've pretty much exonerated the government's mistake, In the process, you've lied to us by saying that there was nothing to worry about. When I was in the military, we were told that if there is a potential, treat it as real; until you can show proof that it is not even a potential."
"At present, more than 100 urine samples have been analyzed and all results have been negative." Notice that they fail to mention the fecal sample results? Why?
Simple; The fecal samples WILL reveal radioactivity. Urine samples
will NOT reveal the presence of radioactive particles ingested, nor
will it reveal the alpha emitters lodged in the lung. Their theory is that if you don't look for it, you won't find it.
Watch this video for information on how the workers' and their families' health have been harmed by the ongoing situation at WIPP:
We could go on and on. It should be noted, without going into mathematics that the only reason that WIPP is permitted to say that radiation levels are "safe" at the moment is due to the increased "acceptable levels" of radiation quietly put in place by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) after the horrific Fukushima Power Plant Meltdown in Japan which has affected fishermen and beaches on the Pacific Coast.
That being said, if you live in the affected area should you feel safe? Probably not. Is it safe now? Probably. Is there a tinder box of radiation nearby that can spread cancer and death causing radiation like a dirty bomb? Absolutely. Have WIPP and the US Government released the whole truth? Absolutely not.
What can you do? Well for starters, get a bottle of Potassium Iodide for each member of your family in case this ongoing radiation leak gets worse (this keeps radiation poisoning from affecting your body). Amazon sells them cheaper than anywhere I've seen. (Here's the Amazon link: Anti-Radiation Tablets)
Second, make sure that you have a plan to shelter-in-place for several days while the craziness (that can get you killed) takes care of itself. Then have a clear survival plan. (Family Survival Course is an excellent resource. Click here.)
Third, take anything the government says with a grain of salt. Heck, take this article with a grain of salt. Do your own research! Find out the answers for yourself and make sure that you and your family are protected. We here at Political Ears will continue to follow this story for you, but make sure that you're getting your information from multiple sources so that you can make an informed decision how best to proceed.
Finally, we'd like to confront some of the claims out there that we are fear-mongering. We are not. If you live in this area you have the right to be informed about what is going on, and it seems that the only thing going on is a coverup.
You know the saying, "Where there's smoke there's fire. Here we have found an actual fire." Just remember that.
Be safe out there.
March 18, 2014This past Sunday we reported that radioactive leaks at the Los Alamos Nuclear Repository had the potential to affect millions of New Mexicans, Texans, and Mexicans. Late last night a plume erupted from the vicinity of Los Alamos and was caught with meteorological equipment. It has already spread with the wind throughout eastern [...]
